Tag Snowflake

Tag snowflake is way of use of Tagatum project. Tag Snowflake displays associated tags for selected tag in the visual form of net, web or snowflake. Possibly, it is the next level of the tag cloud. Instead of tag cloud 2.0 we preferred to call it Tag Snowflake.

Tagatum holds associations between tags, words and phrases. Tagatum stores only tag pairs (not sets), thus it is possible to calculate popularity of the pair. The popularity is calculated as how many time this pair was found in the users' blog posts. According to this information a web of tags/words associated with each other can be drawn. We called it Tag Snowflake. Associated tags are connected with the line. The thickness of the line is defined by the popularity weight of the association. Thus you can define not only associated words, but most adequate associated words. See figure below.

The popularity of the association also can be defined by color. See the figure below

It is supposed that tag snowflake is interactive element where will be defined:

• the root tag – the tag starting from which the tag snowflake will be displayed. The root tag on the figures above is 'music'.
• the level of the depth – how many levels for associations should be displayed, the value from 2 to 9 (The figures above have level of depth – 3, the figures below - 2)
• popularity limit – the popularity limit defines that tag snowflake should display only tags with defined association popularity. Thus user will see only most popular associations.
• display associations between all tags – the tags on all levels can be associated between each other. By default this associations are not displayed. This option can take values 'yes' or 'no'. Example for value 'yes' is displayed below.

Also the association between words can be displayed by words font, color etc. In this case Tag Snowflake takes the form of ordinary tag cloud.

Currently the project is on start-up stage. Very soon the first version of the tag snowflake will be ready. Everyone can use tag snowflake and make own implementation. However we appreciate if you send us a link to your project, where tag snowflake is used.
